Dear , At 12:13pm PDT a cross connect between one of our server racks and our main network rack failed. All of these between rack connections are provided by the data center facility and pass through the "Meet Me Room". Within 3 minutes of the failure our monitoring systems had alerted us a few servers were "down", and a few customers had contacted us for reboots. After the events were determined to all be within the same rack, we started looking at possible causes which might take a whole rack off the network. The switch was rebooted, the cables were moved to new switch interfaces, our monitoring systems were checked to see if there were any interface errors or network anomalies leading up to the event. There were none. The service was restored when the connection end in the "Meet Me Room" was removed and reseated. Service was restored at 12:37pm. We are arranging the installation of redundant cross connects between all of our server racks and our networking core. We will also configure our existing redundant core network so that a similar single cable failure in the Data Center facility can not have this same effect on our network in the future. If you have further questions or comments regarding this event, please reply to this message and I will work with you personally to address any concerns which may remain. Thanks ! Mike
